Active-Semi updates its popular automotive DCDC converter IC ACT4529M with the AEC-Q100 qualified ACT4530M. The ACT4530M provides compatibility with the latest Quickcharge algorithms.

DALLAS, TX – January 10, 2019 – The ACT4530M is a wide input voltage, high efficiency step-down DC/DC converter that operates in either CV mode (Constant Output Voltage) or CC mode (Constant Output Current). The ACT4530M builds upon the ACT45290M and supports the latest Quickcharge algorithms in 12V automotive applications including QC2.0, Apple, Samsung, and BC1.2 protocols. The ACT4530M also has an optional input pin that accepts a tri-state input enabling USB-PD control.

The ACT4530M sets accurate output current limits while in constant current regulation to meet the MFi specification. It provides up to 3.0A output current at 125kHz switching frequency. The ACT4530M utilizes an adaptive drive technique to achieve good EMI performance while maintaining >90% efficiency at full load for minimizing a CLA (Cigarette Lighter Adapter) design's size.

The ACT4530M implements a full range of protection features, including hiccup mode short circuit protection, output over voltage protection and thermal shutdown This allows designers to achieve safe operation in the smallest physical size CLAs.

This device is AEC-Q100 qualified and available in a SOP-8EP package and requires very few external components for operation.
