Winston Fu brings over two decades of company-building experience to Active-Semi. During Winston’s 14-year tenure as a general partner at U.S. Venture Partners (USVP), he served on boards of numerous high-growth companies, including, Box, Brion Technologies (acquired by ASML), Clear Shape (acquired by Cadence), New Focus (NUFO), and Teknovus (acquired by Broadcom). In addition, he co-led investments in many other companies, such as, CadMOS (acquired by Cadence), Sierra Monolithics (acquired by Semtech), Intermolecular (IMI), MaxLinear (MXL) and Mellanox (MLNX). Prior to joining USVP, Winston co-founded Vixel Corporation, which made its initial public offering in 1999 (NASDAQ: VIXL) and was subsequently acquired by Emulex (ELX) in 2003. Prior to launching Vixel, Winston published his research in the areas of multimedia, semiconductors, optoelectronics and superconductors at Intel, Stanford University, MIT, and Sandia National Laboratories. Winston holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from MIT, a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management, where he was an Austin Scholar.
